1. About This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Cinezs (“Cinezs”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, stores, discloses, and otherwise processes information about you when you access or use cinezs.com and the features, content, tools, and other products and services made available through Cinezs (collectively, the “Services”). This Privacy Policy applies whenever you visit, browse, register for, interact with, or otherwise use the Services. It also applies when you communicate with us in connection with the Services. In this Privacy Policy, “Personal Data” means information that identifies, relates to, describes, can reasonably be associated with, or can reasonably be linked to an identifiable individual, as defined under applicable privacy laws. By using the Services, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. Your use of Cinezs is also subject to our Terms of Use.
2. Personal Data We Collect
The Personal Data we collect depends on how you interact with Cinezs, which features you use, whether you have an account, and the device or technology you use to access the Services.
We may collect account and profile information, information about your activity on Cinezs, communications you send to us, device and technical information, approximate location information derived from technical data, cookie and similar technology data, and other information reasonably necessary to provide and protect the Services.
We seek to collect only information reasonably relevant to the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
We do not intentionally require users to provide sensitive Personal Data such as government identification numbers, financial account credentials, precise health information, or similarly sensitive information unless a particular feature clearly requires it and appropriate disclosures are provided.
3. Information You Provide to Us
We collect information that you choose to provide directly to Cinezs.
When you create or maintain an account, this may include information such as your email address, username, display name, password or authentication information, profile image, biography, and other profile information you choose to provide.
When you interact with film-related features, we may collect information associated with your activity, such as ratings, reviews, comments, lists, preferences, likes, follows, or other contributions you make through the Services.
If you contact us, report content, request assistance, submit a privacy request, or communicate with us for another reason, we may collect the contents of your communication together with information reasonably necessary to respond to your request.
You are not required to provide information that is optional. However, certain information may be necessary for us to create an account, provide a requested feature, authenticate you, or respond to a request.
4. Information We Collect Automatically
When you access or use the Services, certain information may be collected automatically from your browser, device, or interaction with Cinezs.
This may include your IP address, browser type, operating system, device type, language settings, referring and exit pages, dates and times of access, pages viewed, links selected, session information, error information, and other technical data associated with your use of the Services.
We may also collect information about how you interact with Cinezs, such as searches, films or pages viewed, features used, interactions with content, and general usage patterns.
IP addresses and similar technical information may be used to estimate a general geographic area, such as country, region, or city. Unless expressly stated otherwise, Cinezs does not require precise GPS location information for ordinary use of the Services.
This information helps us operate the Services, understand usage, maintain security, identify technical problems, prevent abuse, and improve Cinezs.
5. Information From Other Sources
We may receive information from third parties where necessary to provide particular features or operate the Services.
For example, if Cinezs offers the ability to sign in or interact through an external account or platform, we may receive information that you have authorized that service to provide to us. The information we receive will depend on the third-party service, your settings with that service, and the permissions you grant.
We may also receive technical, security, fraud-prevention, analytics, or similar information from service providers that assist us in operating Cinezs.
Where permitted by law, we may combine information obtained from different sources with information already associated with your use of the Services.
Third parties that provide information to Cinezs may have their own privacy practices, and we encourage you to review their policies where relevant.
6. How We Use Personal Data
We process Personal Data to provide, operate, maintain, secure, and improve Cinezs.
This includes creating and managing accounts, authenticating users, displaying profiles and User Content, providing film discovery and community functionality, remembering preferences, responding to requests, maintaining the technical operation of the Services, detecting errors, preventing fraud or abuse, enforcing our Terms of Use, and protecting Cinezs and its users.
We may use information about your interactions with Cinezs to understand how the Services are used and to improve search, discovery, recommendations, rankings, interfaces, and other functionality.
We may also use Personal Data to send important account, security, moderation, legal, policy, or service-related communications.
Where permitted by applicable law, we may use information to provide optional promotional communications or personalize certain aspects of the Services. Where consent or an opt-out mechanism is required, we will provide the applicable choice.
We may also process information where reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests, establish or defend legal claims, investigate violations, or protect the rights, safety, and security of Cinezs, our users, or others.
7. Legal Bases for Processing
Where applicable privacy law requires us to identify a legal basis for processing Personal Data, the basis we rely on will depend on the information and the purpose for which it is processed.
We may process Personal Data where processing is necessary to provide the Services you request or otherwise perform a contract with you, including maintaining your account and providing requested functionality.
We may process information based on our legitimate interests where those interests are not overridden by your applicable rights and interests. Such interests may include operating and improving Cinezs, protecting the Services, preventing fraud and abuse, understanding use of the Services, maintaining network and information security, and protecting our legal rights.
We may process Personal Data where necessary to comply with a legal obligation.
Where required, we may also rely on your consent. If processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent as permitted by applicable law. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before the withdrawal.
8. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Cinezs may use cookies, local storage, pixels, tags, and similar technologies to operate and understand the Services.
Some technologies may be necessary for essential functions such as authentication, security, remembering settings, maintaining sessions, preventing abuse, or ensuring that pages operate correctly.
Other technologies may be used, where enabled, to understand usage, measure performance, remember preferences, analyze traffic, or support additional functionality.
Third-party technologies may also be used where Cinezs relies on external providers for services such as analytics, hosting, security, embedded functionality, or similar operational purposes.
Where applicable law requires consent before non-essential cookies or similar technologies are used, we will provide appropriate controls.
Your browser may also allow you to delete or block cookies. Disabling certain cookies may cause some portions of the Services to function differently or become unavailable.
9. Profiles, Ratings, Reviews and Public Content
Cinezs contains features that may allow users to make information publicly available.
Depending on your settings and the features available, your username, display name, profile image, biography, ratings, reviews, comments, lists, and other contributions may be visible to other users or to the general public.
Information that you intentionally publish publicly should be treated as public information. It may be indexed by search engines, linked to from other websites, shared by other people, copied, quoted, or otherwise distributed outside Cinezs.
If you delete public content from Cinezs, copies may remain temporarily in caches or backups and may continue to exist outside our control if another person or service previously copied or archived it.
You should not include private, confidential, or sensitive information in public areas of Cinezs unless you are comfortable making that information publicly accessible.
10. How We Disclose Personal Data
We do not disclose Personal Data to third parties except as described in this Privacy Policy, as directed by you, or where otherwise permitted or required by applicable law.
We may disclose information to companies and individuals that process information on our behalf and assist with operating the Services. These providers may support functions such as hosting, infrastructure, security, email delivery, analytics, technical support, authentication, fraud prevention, and other operational services.
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable laws, regulations, court orders, subpoenas, or other valid legal processes.
We may also disclose information where reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, security incidents, abuse, violations of our Terms, or threats to the rights or safety of users, Cinezs, or others.
Information that you intentionally make public through Cinezs may be visible to anyone as described in this Privacy Policy.
11. Service Providers, Affiliates and Business Transfers
Cinezs may engage third-party service providers to perform functions on our behalf.
Where service providers process Personal Data for Cinezs, we seek to provide them only with information reasonably necessary to perform the applicable service and to use appropriate contractual or other safeguards where required by law.
If Cinezs is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, corporate reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or transfer of all or part of the Services or business, Personal Data may be disclosed or transferred as part of that transaction or its evaluation.
Any recipient of Personal Data in connection with such a transaction will remain subject to applicable privacy laws and any commitments that continue to apply to the information.
We may also disclose aggregated or de-identified information that does not reasonably identify you, subject to applicable law.
12. Analytics, Personalization and Advertising Technologies
Cinezs may use analytics technologies to understand how users interact with the Services, identify technical issues, measure performance, and improve features.
Information such as page visits, interactions, device information, approximate location, referral information, and other usage data may be processed for these purposes.
Cinezs may also use information about your activity to personalize aspects of the Services, including recommendations, discovery results, or content presentation.
If Cinezs uses advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising technologies, additional disclosures and privacy choices will be provided where required by applicable law.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to opt out of certain uses of Personal Data for targeted advertising, cross-context behavioral advertising, profiling, or activities legally defined as the “sale” or “sharing” of Personal Data.
Where legally required, Cinezs will also recognize supported browser or device-based opt-out preference signals, such as Global Privacy Control, for processing to which such signals legally apply.
13. International Data Transfers
Cinezs is operated from the United States and may use service providers or technical infrastructure located in the United States and other countries.
As a result, Personal Data may be processed in a country other than the country in which you live. Privacy and data protection laws in those countries may differ from the laws applicable in your jurisdiction.
Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, we will use legally recognized mechanisms or other appropriate safeguards.
For transfers involving Personal Data protected by European or similar data protection laws, these measures may include adequacy decisions, approved contractual safeguards, or other transfer mechanisms recognized under applicable law.
14. Data Retention
We retain Personal Data for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services and fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by applicable law.
The appropriate retention period depends on factors including the type of information, why we collected it, whether you maintain an account, legal requirements, security considerations, fraud prevention needs, and whether information is required to establish or defend legal claims.
Account-related information may generally be retained while your account remains active.
If you delete your account or request deletion of information, we will delete or de-identify applicable information within a reasonable period, subject to legal and operational exceptions.
Certain information may remain for a limited period in backups, security records, logs, fraud-prevention systems, or other technical systems. We may also retain information where required by law or reasonably necessary to resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent abuse, or protect legal rights.
15. Data Security
Cinezs uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect Personal Data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, destruction, loss, or misuse.
These measures may include access controls, authentication measures, technical monitoring, system updates, backups, and other security practices appropriate to the nature of the Services.
However, no website, network, database, transmission method, or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
You are responsible for protecting your account credentials and should use a unique and secure password. You should notify us promptly if you believe your Cinezs account or credentials have been compromised.
If a security incident involving Personal Data occurs, we will investigate and provide notifications to users or authorities where required by applicable law.
16. Your Privacy Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding Personal Data that Cinezs processes about you.
These rights may include requesting access to information, requesting correction of inaccurate information, requesting deletion, obtaining a portable copy of certain information, restricting or objecting to particular processing, withdrawing consent, and opting out of certain advertising, profiling, sale, or sharing activities.
Not every right applies in every jurisdiction or in every circumstance. Applicable law may permit or require us to retain certain information or decline particular requests.
You may also be able to manage certain information directly through your Cinezs account settings.
When you submit a privacy request, we may need to take reasonable steps to verify your identity and ensure that we do not disclose or delete Personal Data in response to a fraudulent request. Where permitted by law, an authorized agent may submit certain requests on your behalf.
We will not unlawfully discriminate against you because you exercised an applicable privacy right.
17. If You Live in the EEA, United Kingdom, or Switzerland
If you live in the European Economic Area (“EEA”), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, additional data protection rights may apply to the processing of your Personal Data.
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may have the right to be informed about processing, obtain access to your Personal Data, correct inaccurate or incomplete information, request deletion, restrict certain processing, receive certain Personal Data in a portable format, object to certain processing, and withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing.
You may also have rights relating to decisions based solely on automated processing where those decisions produce legal or similarly significant effects.
When processing is based on legitimate interests, you may have the right to object to that processing based on circumstances relating to your particular situation. Where Personal Data is processed for direct marketing, applicable law may provide an unconditional right to object to such processing.
Where we rely on consent, withdrawing consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before consent was withdrawn.
You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent data protection authority in your country if you believe your Personal Data has been processed unlawfully.
If Personal Data is transferred from the EEA, United Kingdom, or Switzerland to countries that are not recognized as providing an adequate level of data protection, Cinezs will use an appropriate transfer mechanism where required by applicable law.
These rights broadly reflect the GDPR/UK GDPR rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection and protections around automated decision-making; Switzerland’s FADP separately imposes transparency and data-subject information requirements.
18. California Privacy Rights
If you are a resident of California and the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended (“CCPA”), applies to Cinezs’s processing of your Personal Data, you may have additional rights regarding information that qualifies as “personal information” under California law.
Subject to applicable exceptions, these rights may include the right to know what categories and specific pieces of personal information have been collected about you, the sources from which information was obtained, the purposes for which it is used, and the categories of third parties to whom it has been disclosed.
You may also have the right to request deletion of certain personal information, request correction of inaccurate personal information, and opt out of certain activities legally considered the sale or sharing of personal information.
Where applicable, California law may also provide a right to limit certain uses and disclosures of sensitive personal information.
Cinezs will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights provided by applicable California law.
Where Cinezs engages in processing to which a legally recognized opt-out preference signal applies, we will process supported signals, including Global Privacy Control where required by law.
You may submit an applicable privacy request using the contact or privacy request method provided through Cinezs. We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests, and California law may permit you to use an authorized agent.
California’s Attorney General currently describes CCPA rights including the rights to know, delete, correct, opt out of sale or sharing, limit certain uses of sensitive personal information, and receive non-discriminatory treatment for exercising those rights.
19. Children and Young Users
The Services are not intended for children under 16 years of age.
We do not knowingly permit individuals under 16 to create or maintain Cinezs accounts.
If we become aware that Personal Data has been collected through an account belonging to a person who does not meet the minimum age requirement, we may take appropriate measures to restrict or remove the account and delete applicable Personal Data, subject to legal requirements.
Parents or legal guardians who believe that a child has provided Personal Data to Cinezs in violation of this policy may contact us using the methods described below.
In jurisdictions where additional parental consent or authorization requirements apply to young users, we will comply with those requirements to the extent applicable to the Services.
20. Changes to This Privacy Policy and Contact Us
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to Cinezs, our data practices, technologies, legal requirements, or other operational reasons.
When we update this Privacy Policy, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of the page. If changes materially affect your privacy rights or the way we process Personal Data, we may provide additional notice where required by applicable law.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to remain informed about how Cinezs handles Personal Data.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, wish to exercise an applicable privacy right, have concerns about how your Personal Data is processed, or wish to submit a privacy-related complaint, you may contact Cinezs using the contact information or support methods made available on cinezs.com.
We may request additional information where reasonably necessary to verify your identity, locate relevant information, understand your request, or prevent fraudulent privacy requests.
If applicable law gives you the right to appeal our response to a privacy request, you may submit an appeal using the contact method provided with our decision or through the privacy contact method available on Cinezs.
