Synopsis
Andy Dufresne, a successful banker, is sentenced to two consecutive life terms at Shawshank State Penitentiary for the murders of his wife and her lover—crimes he insists he did not commit. Inside the harsh prison, Andy befriends Ellis “Red” Redding, a longtime inmate who can obtain almost anything.
Over the years, Andy uses his intelligence and financial skills to help the prison staff while quietly holding on to hope for a better life. His friendship with Red grows stronger as they endure the brutality, corruption, and despair of prison life. Eventually, Andy puts an extraordinary plan into motion that could change both their lives forever.
